Your voice stays on your phone
Last updated 11 September 2026
Accentric collects nothing. It has no account, no analytics, and makes no network requests of any kind. Recordings are measured on the device and discarded within seconds of being made.
What the app records
When you tap the record button, Accentric captures about two seconds of audio in order to measure the resonant frequencies of the vowel you just said.
That audio is held in memory, analysed, and released. It is never written to disk, never played back, and never transmitted. What survives the measurement is a handful of numbers — frequencies in hertz, and a score derived from them.
What is stored, and where
Everything the app remembers is stored locally on your device and nowhere else:
- Your seven calibration vowels, as frequency values
- Unit progress, best scores, crowns and experience points
- Your streak, hearts and review queue
- Your settings — coach, role, daily goal, sound and haptics
Because there is no server and no account, this also means there is no backup. Deleting the app deletes all of it, permanently.
No network, no analytics, no third parties
The app contains no networking code. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no advertising identifier and no third-party library that phones home. Its App Store encryption declaration states that it makes no use of non-exempt encryption, which is accurate for the same reason: there is nothing to encrypt in transit.
Spoken examples are produced by the voice synthesis built into iOS, using voices already installed on your device. Nothing you record is involved, and nothing is sent anywhere to generate them.
Permissions
Microphone. Required, and the only permission the app asks for. It is used solely to measure the words you choose to record. If you decline, the app tells you plainly that it cannot measure anything and offers to open Settings; nothing else about it changes.
Children
Accentric is not directed at children under 13. Since it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either.
Changes
If a future version of the app ever sends anything off the device, this page will say so before that version ships, and the change will be obvious rather than buried. The date at the top is the last time this page changed.
